Sovereign Hill Hotel, hotel in Ballarat

Sovereign Hill Hotel is set in the heart of a historical 25-acre mining site featuring theater show and gold mining tours. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi and BBQ facilities.

Even though it was December, the weather was extremely cold and wet. The room had no heating. The old air conditioner worked only for cooling. Furthermore, Reception was ALWAYS closed! The reception hours featured on the notices and on the website, did not apply. The 3-digit emergency number was never answered! The security guard let us in upon arrival, then he too disappeared.

Hotel Vera Ballarat, hotel in Ballarat

Located in Ballarat, a 13-minute walk from Ballarat Train Station, Hotel Vera Ballarat has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

The excellent restoration of this magnificent Victorian building shows how clever and considerate are the owners. They have incorporated luxury comfort without losing the features of the building, and the modern extension to the property blends seamlessly. Throughout the place are cosy reading nooks and a marvellous and eclectic selection of fabulous books, art and memorabilia, placed always to enhance the sense of design. The owners are warm and friendly and add to the overall sense of welcome and serenity. The weekend continental breakfast was excellent. Overall we felt a sense of calm in this lovely place.

    Ballarat is terrific.

Ballarat is terrific. Full of history, culture and shopping. Lake Wendouree and the Botanic gardens are always a delight. Lunch at Craigs Hotel Atrium was very special and a good price. The Gallery always has something new to see as the exhibits change often. Eureka Stockade museum is a really good exhibition and tells the story of the Rebellion. The King Bakery on Sturt street has THE BEST vanilla slices and meat pies. Yellow Espresso next door does a great coffee too. Op shops are well situated. Messer & Opie is a really nice Men's & Women's clothing shop in the Bridge street Mall. Although Ballarat is more hilly than you'd think walking around the area is still easy.

I would have liked to have walked in the downtown area but I didn't know how to pay for parking. The main purpose of being in Ballarat was to visit Sovereign Hill which we could have spent so much more time at. This was better than we had expected. Friendly staff, great performances and there was a feeling of going back to different times in history.

Ballarat is a historical gem, it reeks of history everywhere you go and is easy to get around. The restaurants, cafes, pubs and people we met were all great. We have been several times now and we will go back as the region has plenty to offer . If you go in winter, rug up.

When I arrived I wasn't expecting anything flash. But I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, well appointed, clean, nothing was broken, and the bed was comfy as! I also arrived on a near 40 degree day and the lovely owners had been in and turned the air-con on before my arrival so I walked into a cool and refreshing room after my travel. Without a doubt one of the better hotels I've stayed at, and is now my go to motel if I ever stay in Ballarat again. Thankyou!

The room was lovely and was so spacious. The breakfast of fruit salad was lovely and big. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Surprisingly there wasn't much noise even though we were near a main road. We spotted this place as we came into Ballarat so we were tired when we got there. For a cheap hotel it went above what I thought it would.

Newly built, spacious and great location! Opposite is a fantastic restaurant which makes it easy for dinner option. Lovely Hampton’s style decor with modern appliances. The bathroom was a luxury escape, the heat lamp helped with warming the floor tiles on a cold night. Great air-conditioner/heater. Netflix in the room was a bonus.

It was my first time I brought my family from overseas to stay in Ballarat. I’m glad I did a great decision to stay here because my family enjoyed it! The house is so big and tidy! We were extra grateful for the washing machine and dryer that the host provided! 😉 Really recommended for other people to stay here! 👍

It's a cheap motel that is very comfortable. The bed was extrememly comfy the room was big, and really clean. Like it's dated and the blinds are pretty dodgy and the furniture was threadbare, but if you get the bed right and the rooms clean then you can overlook a lot of things for $100 a night.

The hotel is simply superb in every way and rare to find, from the warm welcome we received, the breakfasts and the hospitality we were shown. The owners have created a paradise in what was just an old building. We would recommend Hotel Vera to anyone travelling to the Ballarat region.
